We Won an Award!
The Kid President Team (Robby Novak, Brad Montague, and Soulpancake) were recently awarded the Making KIDS COUNT Media Award by the Tennessee Commission on Children & Youth (TCCY)!
The commission had this to say: “Kid President challenges child advocates to remember that children are not just a collection of needs or a set of concerns to be addressed. Kid President reminds grown-ups everywhere that all kids are awesome and able to make a difference. The message of the Kid President web series serves as a source of inspiration to encourage people of all ages to work together to make the world more awesome.
Too often, the future that kids are said to represent is something deemed to occur sometime in the years to come. As a “self-appointed voice of a generation,” Kid President uses humor – and poignancy – to declare the future that is shaped by kids does not begin in years to come – or months, or even weeks – but, the future for and built by our children begins in the next instant.”
Brenda Davis, Chairperson of the Tennessee commission, presented the award to the team, and said, “No people need a pep talk more than child advocates, especially during times when funding for successful programs is being cut. Kid President also reminds us that children are personalities with viewpoints that must be considered by advocates and a source of inspiration for our work. So, we give Kid President a Making KIDS COUNT award for giving the world a reason to dance and, with him, ask you, ‘What will you create to make the world more awesome?’”
